I thought it would be fun to look back at some pre-blog completed projects room-by-room with sources since that’s a frequent question.
A room that surprised me when we finally pulled it together (shortly before selling the house), was the master bedroom in our Frank DeGroot Mid-Century Modern home. When we moved in, we had a mixture of random, dark furniture including a four-poster that felt very heavy in the space. It took every bit of the 3 years we lived there because it’s easy to ignore the master since guests rarely see it and you don’t spend as much awake time there as other rooms. With the exception of not having a legit bed frame, I’m proud of how this room turned out.
Here it is before…
- Antique Brasilia Headboard by Broyhill: Antique Mall Find
- Antique Brasilia End Tables by Broyhill: Ebay (yes, there are 3 – long story)
- Antique Brasilia “Dresser” by Broyhill: Craigslist find (and technically a buffet)
- Bedside Lamps: Made by a family member with IKEA shades
- Bedspread: Pottery Barn
- Love Pillows: Found on a flash sale site (Gilt, I think)
- Clock: George Nelson, can be purchased on Amazon.com (we painted the arms red)
- Texas artwork: “Totally Texas Poster” by Draplin Design
- Rug: Antique store find (and steal) and a great example of why to mention to friends what you’re on the hunt for because a friend spotted this.
- Blue artwork: DIY
- Bench: Ebay find. Had to have one after seeing it in another house. This one is expandable and fits everywhere. Love it.
- Sitting Room Chair: a.k.a. “the ugly chair”. Actually a Plycraft vintage copy, not an Eames. We like it because it because it rocks. Found a Uptown Modern, a vintage resale shop on sale in as-is condition. Future re-uplolshery project.
- Floating Shelves: LACK from IKEA like we did here in our new study
- Mirror: TJ Max deal re-framed in a Hobby Lobby sale frame with DIY stain
- Sitting Room Lamp: Mid-Century Cylinder Night Light Table Lamp – currently available on Amazon.com
- Candle Sticks: (no longer available) D. Lawless Hardware (don’t forget our coupon code “REMODELICIOUS” for 10% off anything there)
- Sitting Room Buffet: Antique Chinese piece found at a lighting store of all places (always have your eyes open).
- Sewing Desk: Craigslist find
